Peter Thorne
Peter Thorne was born in Mansfield in 1955. He read music at Oxford University and studied further at the University of East Anglia. He has worked as a music teacher and as a performer in jazz groups, function bands and as a solo entertainer. He taught for many years at The Centre for Young Musicians and at Francis Holland School Clarence Gate in London. He now works as a private piano teacher and is involved with local music making as an accompanist with soloists and choirs.
Throughout his career Peter has continued to compose music in many different styles. He has written choral music and music for wind ensembles but primarily for wind instruments with piano. He has also written many pieces for piano.
Peter lives on the Essex coast where he is often to be found walking his two dogs.
