Chamber orchestra version: 2 flutes (2^nd doubling piccolo), 2 oboes, 2 clarinets (2^nd doubling bass clarinet), 2 bassoons, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, 2 percussionists [list below] and strings: divisi of 6.5.4.3.2.

Full orchestra version: 12.10.8.6.4 strings plus additional brass: 2 horns, 2 tenor trombones, 1 bass trombone. 

Percussion (2 performers):

Percussion 1: crotales (2 octaves + cello or bass bow), tam tam (medium – 32 inch), wooden wind chimes, suspended cymbal (medium), cello bow, guiro.

Percussion 2: 2 concert bass drums (1 behind the audience, the other on stage), suspended cymbal (medium), 2 maracas (2 different sizes/pitches), metal cabasa.
